Terms of Service

Rules and guidelines for using AdaptiveMath.

The short version: AdaptiveMath is an educational platform. Use it for learning. Don't share accounts, cheat, or misuse the AI features. Free users get Unit 1; paid plans unlock the rest. We can update these terms and will notify you of major changes. Questions? Email info@admath.io.

1. Acceptance of Terms

By creating an account or using AdaptiveMath, you agree to these Terms of Service and our Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, do not use the platform.

If you are under the age of 18, your parent or legal guardian must consent to these terms on your behalf. By allowing a minor to use AdaptiveMath, the parent or guardian agrees to be bound by these terms.

When a school or district directs students to use AdaptiveMath, the school acts as the consenting party on behalf of its students in accordance with FERPA and applicable law.

2. Description of Service

AdaptiveMath is an online adaptive math learning platform. The service currently includes:

  • Adaptive practice with original, exam-aligned questions across multiple difficulty levels
  • Mastery tracking by skill and topic
  • Predicted AP score based on performance data
  • AI-powered tutoring (hint, explain, and learn modes)
  • AI-powered free-response question (FRQ) grading with per-part scores and feedback
  • Teacher dashboards for class management and student progress monitoring
  • Structured lessons covering AP Calculus AB and BC curriculum

We may add, modify, or discontinue features at any time. We will make reasonable efforts to notify users of significant changes.

3. Accounts & Registration

To use AdaptiveMath, you must create an account with accurate and complete information. You are responsible for:

  • Maintaining the accuracy of your account information
  • Keeping your password secure and confidential
  • All activity that occurs under your account

Each person may maintain only one account. Account sharing is not permitted. If you suspect unauthorized access to your account, contact us immediately at info@admath.io.

Teacher accounts may create and manage classes. Teachers are responsible for sharing join codes only with their intended students and for managing their class rosters appropriately.

4. Subscriptions & Payments

Free Tier

All users have free access to Unit 1 (Limits & Continuity), including adaptive practice, mastery tracking, and AI features. No credit card is required for the free tier.

Paid Plans

Full access to all 10 units requires a paid subscription. Current plans include:

  • Monthly — Billed monthly, cancel anytime
  • Annual — Billed yearly at a discounted rate
  • Sprint Pass — One-time payment for 90 days of access, no auto-renewal

Prices are listed on our pricing page and are subject to change. We will notify existing subscribers before any price increase takes effect on their account.

Billing & Renewal

Monthly and Annual plans renew automatically at the end of each billing period. You may cancel auto-renewal at any time from your account settings. Cancellation takes effect at the end of the current billing period — you retain access until then.

Refunds

If you are unsatisfied with AdaptiveMath, contact us at info@admath.io within 14 days of your initial purchase. We will consider refund requests on a case-by-case basis. Refunds, if granted, will be prorated based on usage.

Promotional Codes

Promotional codes are subject to their specific terms, including expiration dates and usage limits. Codes are typically single-use per student and cannot be combined with other offers unless stated otherwise.

5. Acceptable Use

You agree to use AdaptiveMath solely for legitimate educational purposes. You may not:

  • Share your account credentials with others or allow others to access your account
  • Copy, scrape, or systematically download questions, solutions, lessons, or other content from the platform
  • Redistribute, sell, or publish AdaptiveMath content in any form
  • Attempt to manipulate the adaptive engine, mastery scores, or predicted AP score through artificial means
  • Submit another person's work as your own for AI grading
  • Misuse AI features, including attempting prompt injection, generating harmful or inappropriate content, or using the AI Tutor for purposes unrelated to math learning
  • Reverse engineer, decompile, or attempt to extract the source code of the platform
  • Use the platform in any way that violates applicable laws or regulations

We reserve the right to suspend or terminate accounts that violate these terms.

6. AI Features

AdaptiveMath uses artificial intelligence (powered by Anthropic) to provide tutoring and grade free-response questions. By using these features, you acknowledge that:

  • AI-generated tutoring and feedback are provided as a learning aid and are not a substitute for instruction from a qualified teacher
  • AI responses may occasionally contain errors or inaccuracies — always verify important information with your teacher or textbook
  • AI grading scores are estimates based on rubric comparison and may differ from scores a human grader would assign — students can override AI scores with self-assessed scores
  • Consent is required before AI features are activated for the first time, and you may disable AI features at any time from your account settings

For details on how data is handled by AI features, see our Privacy Policy.

7. Intellectual Property

Our Content

All questions, solutions, explanations, lessons, graphics, badges, and platform code on AdaptiveMath are the intellectual property of AdaptiveMath and are protected by copyright law. You may not copy, reproduce, distribute, or create derivative works from our content without written permission.

Your Content

You retain ownership of the work you create on AdaptiveMath, including typed FRQ responses. By submitting your work for AI grading, you grant AdaptiveMath a limited, non-exclusive license to process your work through our AI grading system and store the results as part of your practice record. We will not use your submitted work for any purpose other than providing the educational service to you.

8. Teacher & School Accounts

Teachers who create classes on AdaptiveMath are responsible for:

  • Sharing class join codes only with their intended students
  • Managing their class rosters and removing students who should no longer have access
  • Using student progress data only for legitimate educational purposes
  • Complying with their school's or district's policies regarding student data

Class enrollment is for progress tracking purposes. Students must maintain their own individual accounts and subscriptions. Teacher access to student data is limited to students enrolled in their classes.

9. Privacy

Your use of AdaptiveMath is also governed by our Privacy Policy, which describes how we collect, use, and protect your data. Our Privacy Policy includes our commitments regarding FERPA compliance, COPPA, data retention, and third-party services.

10. Disclaimer of Warranties

AdaptiveMath is provided on an "as is" and "as available" basis. We make no warranties, express or implied, regarding:

  • The accuracy or completeness of AI-generated tutoring, grading, or feedback
  • Uninterrupted or error-free operation of the platform
  • The accuracy of predicted AP scores — these are estimates based on your practice performance and are not guarantees of actual AP exam results
  • Fitness for any particular purpose

We strive to provide a reliable, high-quality service, but cannot guarantee perfection. Use the platform as one of many tools in your exam preparation.

11. Limitation of Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, AdaptiveMath and its founder, employees, and contractors shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages arising from your use of or inability to use the platform, including but not limited to:

  • Loss of data or academic performance outcomes
  • Reliance on predicted AP scores or AI-generated feedback
  • Service interruptions or technical errors

Our total liability for any claim related to the service shall not exceed the amount you paid to AdaptiveMath in the 12 months preceding the claim.

12. Termination

By You

You may cancel your subscription at any time by clicking "Manage Subscription" in your account settings, which opens the Stripe Customer Portal. When you cancel:

  • You retain full access to all paid features until the end of your current billing period.
  • Your subscription will not renew, and you will not be charged again.
  • No partial refund is issued for the remaining time in your current billing period.
  • After your billing period ends, your account reverts to the free tier (Unit 1 access only).

If you wish to delete your account and all associated data entirely, contact us at info@admath.io. Upon deletion, your data will be handled according to our Privacy Policy (account deactivated within 48 hours, data permanently deleted within 30 days).

By Us

We may suspend or terminate your account if you violate these Terms of Service. In cases of serious violations, termination may be immediate. For minor violations, we will make reasonable efforts to notify you and provide an opportunity to address the issue before termination.

13. Changes to These Terms

We may update these Terms of Service from time to time. When we do, we will update the "Last updated" date at the bottom of this page. For material changes that significantly affect your rights or obligations, we will notify affected users via email.

Your continued use of AdaptiveMath after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the updated terms.

14. Governing Law

These Terms of Service are governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of the State of New York, United States, without regard to conflict of law principles. Any disputes arising from these terms or your use of AdaptiveMath shall be resolved in the courts of the State of New York.
